Archives contain a wealth of knowledge and therefore form a rich source for scientific research. They are instruments of memory and culture and a valuable testimony to history and identity for everyone.
Besides that, archives contain our heritage and cultural patrimony. In the absence of this, society risks losing its identity. Bonaire has a very rich culture and history and as a special municipality of The Netherlands it is even more important that this piece of heritage is safeguarded.
FuHiKuBo’s archive contains book collections, documents, artifacts and audio-/visual files which include information about the former Dutch Antilles, Surinam and South America with topics ranging from slavery to poetry.
